Qualcomm usually launches a flagship segment Snapdragon processor in last early part of the last quarter of the year . Let's have a look on this years Snapdragon 8 Elite 5
Qualcomm announced at Coputex that the Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 5 was launched in Hawaii on September 23, which will be a predecessor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite that was launched in October 2023 and remains strong to this day.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 5 is to keep the same 6+2 CPU cores configuration as the 8 Gen Elite. The processor chip is expected to reach a base clock speed of 4.4GHz with the Nuvia-based cores based on Second-Gen Arm's v9 architecture. One of the most significant improvements is the Adreno 840 GPU, which is anticipated to see a memory increase from 12MB to 16MB, resulting in an estimated 20-40% performance gain over its predecessor.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 2 will also be based on the third-generation 3nm process, which ensures better performance, AI features, and battery efficiency.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is 25% faster in single-core and almost 24% faster in multi-core performance compared to its predecessor.
The AnTuTu scores in the range of 3.7 million to 4.2 million. Whereas the 8 Gen Elite scored 2.7 million, that 38% faster.
Its main rival is going to be the Apple A19 processor and MediaTek Dimensity 9500, which is expected to be fiercely strong.
If Qualcomm stays on schedule, Xiaomi is expected to be the first to launch a smartphone in October featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite, likely with the Xiaomi 16, and followed by OnePlus, Realme. Samsung S-series is expected to launch in January.
