Samsung new Software update: One UI 6.1

Samsung's upcoming new update UI 6.1.

UI 6.1 is mainly focused on security patches. This is a good joint move by Samsung and Google to secure customer privacy and user experience. This UI is made to compete with Apple smartphones, known for providing the best smartphone security.

Android UI has been great for so long, that most people prefer Android over iOS because of its user-friendliness. But when it comes to security the gap between both remains as big as ever. Android provides update support for up to 4 years for premium devices and 2-3 years for mid-range, whereas Apple security supports up to 5+ years.

Samsung devices usually take forever to reboot after installing security or UI updates, which are time-consuming processes and exhausting, less efficient and time-consuming. Now OTA updates can run in the background while the system is running, without disturbing. After the UI update rebooting will be short like a normal reboot, I hope we can see this update in the upcoming Samsung update.

Slow but steadily, Samsung phones are matching iPhones in almost every aspect and smartly maximizing security and privacy. Soon Knox's ecosystem will become an alternative to Apple's ecosystem.

What's new in UI 6.1?

1. Refined UI
    • Smoother and faster animation
    • Bolder widgets
2. Security and Privacy
    • Permission Granularity: A new option allows for even more granular control over app permissions, including better management of background data access
    • Privacy Dashboard: it allows users to easily see which apps have access to sensitive data like location, camera, storage or microphone
    • Auto Blockr feature- this feature enables, and blocks all USB devices for juice-jacking attacks (you can't copy or paste any kind of documents from a Samsung device via laptop or computer etc. It will totally block all USB connections except for chargers).
3. Battery life and enhanced performance

4. AI and Smart Features

5. Improved multitasking

6. New Camera Features

Many improvements come along with UI 6.1. One thing that I really want to add as a consumer. "as Android devices are getting stronger and hardware capabilities are improving, it is really a good time to improve updates and supports for its devices". My prediction is Samsung will get slightly better than Apple but it won't affect Apple's market share much.
