The IPL 2025 auction is set to take place on 24-25 November 2024  in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This year's event will see a large no of 1500 players, with 1,165 Indian players and 409 international players aiming for a spot in the IPL. The players include 320 capped players, 1200 approximately uncapped players, and 30 from associate nations, though only 200 roster spots are available across all teams. The players who have not played International Cricket matches are labelled uncapped.

IPL was established by the BCCI in 2007. The 1st match was played on 18 April 2008 between RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders KKR and the final match was held on 1 June 2028 between Chennai Super Kings(CSK) and Rajasthan Royals(RR), where RR won by 3 wickets




IPL RULES

  • The team can only retain 6players (new rules 2025)
  • The retained players list should be submitted before 31st October 2024.
  • One team can only retain 5 capped players.
  • Every 3 years, Team franchisees undergo a reset.
  • Each team league are given the Auction purse of 120 Cr

Who will be the Auctioneer for the IPL 2025?

The auctioneer is yet to be announced but we can expect Mallika Sagar could be the one.

Why is the IPL 2025 mega auction massive? 

IPL is one of the most expensive games. We expect more than INR 100 crore purchases at the mega auction. Punjab King had the highest perch at 110.5 crore, followed by RC's purchase of 83 crore, and the list goes on.

teams can retain a maximum of 6 players where 5 can be capped players or 2 uncapped players, these six players could either be retained by the Right-to-Match(RTM) process at the auction or can be retained.

The highest-bid players in IPL history are Mitchell Starc with a price of 24.75 Cr by KKR, followed by Pat Cummins with a price of 20.50 Cr by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sam Curren, Sam Curran with 18.50 Cr by Punab Kings, Cameron Green with 17.50 Cr by Mumbai Indians.

The team can spend the amount of Rs 120 Cr. on bidding new or retaining old players.
